Christmas!

So...in typical fashion...we had 3 Christmases. One with my parents, one with my in-laws, and a small one at home. Besides gifts, we went rock climbing, played our instruments for church, played ping-pong, went mini golfing, walking, explored Sequoias, played games, solved puzzle boxes and did an escape room. Ari has been asking about makeup so I... Christmas ADVENTures

For Christmas, Cas got me an ADVENTure calendar. It had 12 challenges, each under a scratch-off coating so we marked off 12 days in December and early January to complete the challenges and had fun scratching them off each time and discovering what bonus activity we would be doing that day. We played chubby Santa (safely), made... Hanukkah

Our next Jewish holiday to celebrate was Hanukkah. We read picture books to learn the history of Hanukkah, we made our own menorah's and dreidels and enjoyed eating by candlelight 8 nights in a row.

Thanksgiving

So one of the things I missed about not having a house was being able to host thanksgiving. Before the fire I hosted Thanksgiving every year and we had a great time. This year I got to host again! We got to have all the family (well, almost, my sister went to her in-laws) and some friends. We had... Ice Skating

This year the Paradise Ice skating rink is Glice. Not our favorite so we drove down to Chico to skate on ice. We had a bunch of friends join us and we had a good time. Ari skated without pushing anything this year and Cas had a better thing to push and was able to push by himself... Christmas School

For the random period between Thanksgiving and Christmas we like to ease off on school a bit so there's more time for making presents and participating in the various Christmas activities. We check out lots of Christmas books from the library and pull out our own collection of them. We read our favorites: Tree for Peter and... School Update

Life's been busy so updates have been scarce. We've transitioned from learning about light and energy to learning about water and mass in science. We're learning about the plagues and exodus and 10 commandments in Bible. We've learned about Egypt a lot, so even though our Bible story is still in Egypt we're taking some time to explore... Fall Festival 2023

Our three local Adventist schools came together to do one fall festival again this year. There were 3 bounce houses of various kinds, a climbing wall, a dunk tank, various carnival games and lots of yummy food. Cas and Ari started out in the bounce houses for probably a solid hour. Then they moved on... Continue Reading →

Quick trip to San Diego

My husband's cousin had a lovely wedding in Del Mar near San Diego. Ari could barely remember attending any weddings and Cas has never been to a wedding, so we felt it was doubly important to attend. First to support Caleb's cousin and her new husband as they took his step, second for our kids... Continue Reading →

Homeschool Update

We are the family who loves to do everything! And we weren't having time for everything and were still finishing up homeschool at bedtime...which is stressful and doesn't work...so we had to cut something. I started out cutting the educational videos. That worked. We had time to get everything done...but the kids didn't appreciated it,... Continue Reading →
