Covid Christmas and New Years

Below are some pictures from our 2 weeks of family time and vacation. We wore lots of masks and had a couple outdoor gatherings and one visit to my parents that included quarantines and testing on both sides of the visit. We played games, read books and got outside in the snow. And most importantly,... Continue Reading →

Christmas school week 2

More fun and Christmas school this week. We planned acts of kindness for each day of the week, we made snowflakes, we learned about Joy and discussed how it's different from happiness. Our books of the week were The Night of Las Posadas and we're still working through A Tree for Peter. We recorded several... Continue Reading →

Christmas school week 1

One of my favorite times in the school year...the three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas when we have Christmas school! We are doing our Star from Afar daily hunt again this year and we have 3 advent calendars: a Christmas ornament one made for the kids by their Grandma, a Science kit one that has... 2nd Covid Thanksgiving

After we came home from my parents, we got to relax at home and enjoy Thanksgiving vacation. We got our apartment cleaned up and organized, spent hours at the park, and did some simple Thanksgiving activities. We read some Thanksgiving books, made a few crafts and watched the Mayflower Voyagers starring the Peanuts crew. For... Continue Reading →

First Covid Thanksgiving

This week was another adventure. We got our first colds of the season, and yes, I'm quite sure they were colds and not covid-19. For one, there were no fevers and for another there was sneezing and from everything I can find, sneezing is not a symptom of covid. However, we did follow protocol and... Continue Reading →

Ladybugs and Acorns

Another busy week around here and a fun one. Grandma was with us at the beginning of the week which was fun and we had busy days with school and play and keeping the house up and finally welcoming some rain. Cas discovered Ari's snap circuits and has really enjoyed all the different things he... Continue Reading →

It’s November!

Life continues to be incredibly busy and election week just added more stress to life but we made it through. We started the week with a trip up to our property to plant over 150 bulbs so that there will be some color come spring. We also did a family grocery trip for the first... Continue Reading →

Happy Reformation Day!

I did two Reformation Days this week! One with my students at school. I introduced them to illuminated letters and manuscripts and stained glass and they drew an illuminated letter and made faux stained glass. I gave them snacks and we watched Torchlighters animated Martin Luther video. Then we did one for church kids here... Continue Reading →

Learning about the rainforest

This week was box week! The main box the kids worked on together was on the rainforest. Ari's Atlas crate was on Italy and Cas's Koala Crate was on dinosaurs and the Raddish crate was on Mexican food and was delish! As always, box week is a hit. Fun activities with zero prep for me... Pumpkins!

This week started off with a fun trip to a relatively local, large, pumpkin patch. They definitely were not managing covid guidelines well. They had lots of signage and we saw a few people with "free masks" and we saw rides being sanitized. But the place was very popular and crowded and most people were... Continue Reading →
