This is not the post I'd hoped to write today. We were scheduled to have our final inspection today. We had done everything our regular inspector said we needed to do and then he would pass us. He failed to mention that he isn't the person who does final inspections. He said that we could... Continue Reading →
I is for Insect
We've been having fun around here! Kids earned more prizes with their read aloud challenge. They chose to camp out at the house over the weekend and to have a board game night. We've also been learning about insects. We made play doh insects, ate ladybug snacks, watched youtube videos on ants, sang the ants... Continue Reading →
House progress!
We spent a good portion of Christmas break working on our house. We worked on the kitchen sink and garbage disposal and the downstairs bathroom. We got the bathroom flooring and toilet completely finished and the downstairs sink almost finished. CalHers guy did his part and helped Caleb do our part. The electricians finished their... Week 1 Christmas School 2022
Christmas school! One of my favorite times of the school year! We've got the Christmas music playing, our Christmas tree is small this year, we got a potted one and put it on Cas' desk. It has been lit and decorated. We've started our daily quest for the Star from Afar and we're learning about... Continue Reading →
Dinosaur Week
This week was dinosaur week! We forgot to take a picture of our books but we had a lot of good ones! Favorites included When Dragons Hearts Were Good, How do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?, What Really Happened to the Dinosaurs?, and Three Little Dinosaurs. Ari's favorite was Dinotopia and I can't blame her. The... Continue Reading →
Us week
Life was a little more exciting this week because Ari took a tumble and managed to break 3 fingers. Thankfully all in her left hand. But that has meant many hours waiting at clinics, radiologists and consults and we aren't done yet. We've also had lots to do at our house: cleaning up drywall dust,... Continue Reading →
Turtle Week
This week was T for turtle and also for perseverance using Aesop's fable of the tortoise and the hair. We made turtle snacks, pretended to be turtles with box shells, and made a turtle craft. We read several books. Favorites were Yertle the Turtle, Big Turtle, The Tortoise and the Hare, and Oopsy-Daisy. It was... Continue Reading →
House Progress!
Progress has been happening! This last month after all our trips, we've been spending a lot of time at the house. The kids have learned to saw through a 2x4 with a hand saw, and to put gold coat around a door or window frame, and to use an electric screwdriver, and to drive an... Continue Reading →
Spring has sprung!
Technically it isn't time yet but...everything around here says it is spring. Our fruit trees are in full bloom as are the daffodils. The insects are back to trying to sneak in our screen doors and my nose has a hunch that the pollen is coming soon. We've almost finished our study of Africa. Tomorrow... Continue Reading →
On to Africa!
The last week and a half have been busy and fun. We made pretzels and blushing maid for our German feast and then we flew to Kenya to study Africa. We are learning about different people groups around Africa, about the grasslands habitat and animals that inhabit it, and about some famous missionaries to Africa... Continue Reading →
