Advent week 2

Our second week of Advent was a very busy one. My husband and I helped chaperone his academy banquet on Sunday. On Monday the kids and I ran out to pick up our new building plans and that evening my husband and I went to a very long (3.5 hours) constituency meeting on the future of his school. On Tuesday morning the kids and I went to the library and then a friends house to practice our songs for the convalescent home next week and to make ornaments to give out to the resident. Then Tuesday evening was the Adventurers Christmas party. Wednesday we went roller skating with friends and Thursday we waited for 2 hours at the Paradise building department to submit our new plans. Friday we attended the schools’ Carols at Candlelight concert. Sabbath, I taught Kindergarten Sabbath school. We’ve been busy and are quite ready for vacation…one more week to go!

One of Cas’s favorite Montessori trays right now. Using tongs to transfer jingle bells and pom poms between containers.
Both kids know how to check out their own library books.
Here we are practicing our carols with friends to perform at the convalescent home next week.
At Adventurers, Ari painted a ceramic bank, made several Christmas ornaments, opened a present and…played with bubbles.
This sticker mosaic set had been sitting on the table for over a week. I told Ari to find a place to put it away. She and Cas promptly started working on it and then gave it to a friend at roller skating.
Cas learning to use airplane arms to keep his balance.
At the end of the roller skating lesson they played “red light, green light” and you go to a cone and then put it on your head. Cas is showing off his cone.
And here is Ari with her cone.
Our Christmas treat of the week was Christmas haystacks. Cas is waiting for daddy to hand him the spoons and he drops the mix onto his baking sheet which is out of camera view.
Here they are painting more ornaments from our Advent ornament kit. This one is the basket of loaves and fishes (or in this case loaf and fish).
Friday I gave the kids a bunch of free play time since we’d been so busy all week. They used that time to build this fort all by themselves! Ari needed a little instructing in how to give Cas directions he could follow but then they did it all themselves!
So…we have a rule in our house…you can color paper, the easel, and yourself….Ari really went for it this weekend.

Thats our week in a nutshell! We’re all hoping the next week will be a little less busy…although it doesn’t look like that will be the case. Hope your week is filled with peace on Earth!
