This week we have mostly made progress! Some progress required a ton of patience, see the above pic…but we made progress! The only setback was that the power pole was going to be put in Friday and, due to the rain, will instead go in next Monday…hopefully.
On Monday, the kids and I were able to go pick up our new house plans. These are the ones with a three bedroom house and library/den so we can submit them before the end of the year regardless of when we get the land use review back.
On Thursday we decided to get up to the town of Paradise building department right when they opened to submit our building plans. When my husband had been there right at opening 2 weeks ago, there hadn’t been a line and he’d been able to get in and out right away. He was hoping we could be in and out and he could make it to the school to teach his first class at 9:30. First off…we have 2 kids. So we weren’t there right at opening, we were there at 8:15. Second of all, their computers weren’t working right at opening so the line was already backed up and…everyone seemed to want to be there right at opening today. We waited 2 hours for our turn at the counter. Thankfully I had packed kindles and granola bars and fruit strips. I shut off their time limits on their kindles and we got several complements at how well behaved our children were. Ari did get sick of her kindle after about an hour so I took the kids for a walk down the halls. Then Cas wanted back on his kindle but Ari was done. So I found her some paper and a pencil and she drew until we had our turn at the counter and then I gave her my phone with an app (pocket camp) she hadn’t played in months and she was happy to play that until we were done. This time we had all our ducks in a row and they accepted our plans into plan check! Yay! They say it takes 3-4 weeks to get through plan check. I’m estimating it’ll take a bit longer than that as we have the holidays coming up but still…we’re getting there!
There’s more! Our contractor e-mailed us this week with an estimated start date in February and an estimated finished date in August 2020! I know those are ballpark numbers and, especially the finish date, could be off by months but it’s still nice to hear and…means that just maybe we can host Thanksgiving again next year!
Congratulations! Sounds like great progress forward!
