Back to routine

We had a good week. Cas has gotten using the potty down well enough that we were able to return to our routine this week.

Playing with our awesome Duplo marble run set. This set gets nearly daily use around here.
We’ve been spending more time inside right now and so I joined the 5 day Get Active Inside challenge again this January. The first activity was racing around the house in pillow cases.
Both kids really enjoyed this activity.
Tuesday night, Ari went to Adventurers with her dad so Cas and I got some mommy/son time and we pulled out his latest Koala Crate.
This one had separate pieces to build his own tree and then little colored animals to hang on the tree, colored number cards from 1-3 to play a simple game hanging the animals on the tree, a personalized bag to store it all in and a simple board book. It was a hit and Ari also enjoys playing with the tree and hanging animals.
The cold doesn’t bother Cas as much as it bothers me…he still likes to go out and play in his sand box.
One of Ari’s hairstyle experiments. She’s pretty cute.
This challenge was one we remembered from last year. Using paper plates to “ice skate” around on your floor. I showed some Olympic ice skate videos for inspiration and then we were off. The kids requested we do it again several times.
The art lesson this week was on drawing from pictures and used Degas and his ballerinas for the art history section. Ari decided to do a dolphin.
This week we studied a little about Africa during the years just before colonization took off. The kids forts are based on different African village huts.
This is Ari’s, her base structure was different than ours and she was proud of herself for designing her own.
Making cornbread muffins together. They were delicious.
Friday we had friends over and they built a giant fort in our living room. So, Friday night we shut off all the power (we had an Ohm hour) and we had worship with lanterns and flashlights in our fort and it was a hit!
