Fire Safety Week

This week started out at my parents house because we were there to celebrate my moms birthday. After that we focused a lot on fire safety this week. We got to go see a firefighter presentation and explore a fire truck. We read several books on fire safety and watched a video or two and we went through a fire safety checklist for our apartment and made a fire can for our kitchen.

Cas and Ari with their grandparents at Science Works! They love Science Works.
Ari and Cas checking out the fire truck.
Cas taking his turn to spray the fire hose. They had cones set out as pretend fires. Cas just had fun spraying the hose, Ari hit the cone with all she had.
Cas loves to hand feed Jedi his kibble. I don’t mind at all because it helps Jedi tolerate Cas’s less gentle moments.
Ari zesting a lemon. She made a Swedish Smorgasbord for supper on Wednesday.
We love magnatiles! A few months ago when I had them out, they frustrated Cas terribly. He no longer wanted to line them up but to build with them and he couldn’t yet make the connection that he needed to put 2 at a right angle to help them stand to start his building. Like all our toys they rotated out for a while and when they came back out this week…he could do it! He made lots of towers this week.
Fort building continues to be a weekly activity around here.
Ari has long practices for Sound of Music on Friday’s right now so Cas and I used that time to dig out his new Koala Crate. This month it’s on numbers and he’s putting a little rolling mouse into that box to measure how far it rolls. I’ve been quite impressed with how spot on Koala Crates are developmentally. Cas has loved every box.

That was our week. How was yours? How have you taught fire safety in your home?
