Happy Easter and beyond!

Is it just me or does each week feel like a year right now? I sat down to write this post and was like…wow…was Easter just a week ago? I guess it was. This week has been a roller coaster ride. Easter was fun and had a pleasant surprise when some friends hid eggs in the grass outside for our kids to find. Not quite the same as the big church Easter hunt but still a fun surprise. Ari finished her Spelling book for the year which is going to make school a lot more fun. Spelling is…emotionally…her hardest subject. She’s great at it and picks up the rules really fast and…she wants to spell each word perfectly on her very first try…whether or not she’s mastered the spelling rule yet so… we had plenty of tears in spelling and…lots of practice being ok with mistakes… We will continue to review a few words or rules each week just so she doesn’t forget them by next year but there won’t be new rules so hopefully this will build confidence and hopefully next year will be easier. Allergy season continued to make life hard for me…so kids got most of their outside time with dad after he was home…and when they came in they had to wash faces and hair and change clothes. Thankfully, pollen levels dropped this weekend so I was able to go to the irrigation ditch with them. And…our last holdout homeschooling friends moved away this week. Before the fire we had a large homeschooling community here and now…I think we are the last homeschooling family in our church…I mean regular homeschooler since obviously everyone is homeschooling right now. Last…our house…seems like every time one hurdle is jumped another one pops up. Our contractor and architect are having a conference call this week with the gigacrete company and the air conditioning company to try to work out the (hopefully) last few tweaks before we can finally resubmit our plans. And…we finally gave in…and canceled our Monterey vacation plans. We were supposed to get to see lots of family this week and Ari would have her Sound of Music performance…and then we would have our annual little family vacation to Monterey next weekend… neither of those is happening thanks to covid-19 so…ya. On that note…let’s get on to the pictures!

This month the sensory bin is pasta! With yarn and pipe cleaners.
One nice thing about the stay at home stuff…my kids are even better friends than before. This is not an uncommon finding in the morning.

Doing a little science…which balls make which size craters and does drop height make a difference.
This weeks fort was a double decker and quite awesome.
Our favorite irrigation ditch!
It’s full of tadpoles!!!
The kids were enamored for at least an hour!
And they discovered they could catch them without a net!

That was our week. Praying the next week brings…building plans! and continued national health! and decreasing pollen levels! and lots of fun with my kids πŸ™‚ Well…I can count on at least 1 of the 4. What are you hoping for? How is the roller coaster of life treating you?
