This was a good week. We got into the swing of things and it felt like we’d adjusted to our schedule. Plus it was a box week which means lots of hands on activities. Our sibling box was on seahorses and was a blast. Ari’s box was on Russia and she made a model of St Basil’s cathedral, tried out some ballet steps and learned to play gorodki. Cas’s box was on rainbows and he made a stained glass project, tie died a bag and made a cloud pillow with a rainbow on it. Our Raddish kit was on Harvest Party and we made apple cider donuts, whole roasted herb cauliflower and sweet potato gnocchi. We also had clean air a lot more often so had several trips to the park. We ended the week with Ari singing for church and deciding she is into checkers and making her own checkers board…and then giving the pieces special abilities so it’s kind of a mix of checkers and chess.
Aaaand, the school I’m teaching at…just got it’s waiver so…we will have yet another schedule starting next week. The good news is I will be teaching more regular hours, I won’t be using zoom and I won’t be having to put everything online and I’ll just be teaching Bible and Science, not math anymore. I do love math but I’m contracted for the two classes. So things should be much easier and I should get more sleep. Of course, if anyone in our class gets sick we will all be back online for 2 weeks so I’m not out of the schedule switching zone but…I’m still looking forward to this. And it’s just in time for our chrysalides to hatch into butterflies. I was trying to figure out how to manage the releasing of the butterflies when not all the students are there at the same time but now we will all be there. So keep us all in your prayers that our school is able to stay open and not suddenly have a bunch of covid cases.

It’s been a good week and a great start to fall. I’m looking forward to next week and seeing what adventure it will bring. We could have butterflies by Friday or not until the following Monday. We continue to pray for rain and clean air. In our read alouds we have finished reading about the explorers investigating the “new world” so we’ll be moving on to the early North American settlements: St Augustine, Roanoke and Jamestown. It’s also almost October. So we’re looking forward to Pumpkin patches and corn mazes and thinking to plant some spring bulbs around our property in Paradise so we’ll have something to look forward to. What do you like to do in the fall?
Thank you very much for the update! Have a blessed week!
