We’re adjusting

This week went better. The blue sky and clean air helps a ton and we’re all better adjusted to our latest schedule. We were able to go to the park multiple times and I was able to teach my students outside every day. We released our butterflies except for one that has a bent wing so it’s our kitchen table pet. I also bought us a new betta which the kids named Rainbow Family and he’s a happy betta in our 5 gallon tank. Always comes to the front of the tank when I sit at the desk and will follow your finger around. At home we’ve been learning about the early settlements like Roanoke and Jamestown and Ari has been quite interested in Pocahontas so we’ve read several picture books and are most of the way through a chapter book on her. For science we’ve been studying safety and this week was on preparing for natural disasters and what to do in an earthquake. The kids loved identifying the hazards and doing the earthquake drills in each room. Finally, since it’s fall even though it doesn’t quite look like it here, we collected leaves and made a leaf collage. Oh and we’re collecting acorns…my kids want to learn to make acorn pancakes so… we’re collecting acorns. I also have made contact with a permaculture landscaper so we’re working toward making a plan for our property. How are you all doing? Doing anything for fall?
