Must do something….irrigation!

So the amount of time it’s taking to get the letter written so we can continue with the house is…rather frustrating. And we just wanted to get something done so we could see progress. At first we settled on fencing…got a couple bids for a fence and it was $27k 😛 I went scouting for materials and discovered we could get the materials for $6k. We decided it is worth $21k to learn how to put in our own fencing. We ordered the supplies but…they also won’t arrive for about a month. So next we decided to do irrigation. My parents were still around from the Leoni Meadows trip and my dad has experience with irrigation so we had him look over the site with us and our plans. He gave us some advice and then went out and rented us a trencher! And then went to the store and got us the supplies! And then went home 😉 We are very grateful and Caleb learned how to use the trencher and got all the trenches dug on that first day. The rest of this week we’ve been teaching the kids about laying pipe and we got our underground irrigation all installed! Tomorrow we go up to test it and check for leaks so…there might still be some work that will need to be done but hopefully we’ve got it. We’ll give it some time to develop leaks before we fill in the trenches just so we can hopefully catch anything before it’s hard to get to. We also have more leads on contractors that might be willing to work with us…including one that has both commercial and residential experience and so wasn’t intimidated by the structure of our house so we’ll get there eventually.

How about you all? Done any big diy projects around your home recently?
