Technically it isn’t time yet but…everything around here says it is spring. Our fruit trees are in full bloom as are the daffodils. The insects are back to trying to sneak in our screen doors and my nose has a hunch that the pollen is coming soon.
We’ve almost finished our study of Africa. Tomorrow is our feast. We’ve learned about David Livingstone, Samuel Morris and Mary Slessor. We’ve also read several updates from my friend who is currently serving in Chad. We’ve learned about the animals of the grasslands, Maathai and Sato who have helped various parts of Africa by planting trees, and a few words in Swahili. One of my favorite picture books was Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters. I’m still hoping we can sneak in a showing of The God’s Must Be Crazy but I’m struggling to find a place legally streaming it or offering it for rent. Next up will be Saudi Arabia and an intro to Islam(any good suggestions of kid appropriate movies or books?).
The electricians and hvac guy have been steadily working at our house and…it looks like they’re just about finished with the rough in. The doors still aren’t in…latest update is by the end of next week? Stucco guy is ready pending those doors…or so I hear 🙂 Fire sprinkler rough in is supposed to be second week of March and then…hopefully…we pass rough in inspection and can find someone to do the plaster.
For Valentine’s Day we made sand art and string art hearts and passed them out around the neighborhood along with chocolates. The kids had a great time and it brought a smile to our neighbors as well. Ari said she wishes we didn’t have to wait for a holiday to hand things out around the neighborhood. They rather enjoy giving, so we’ll have to see what we can do.

Enjoy the end of your February!
The nectarine flower is so pretty! I’m so looking forward to when spring comes here to eastern Idaho!
