Wait…it’s May?

April sped by and I didn’t manage to squeeze in a blog post. My Ukraine students have been such troopers. They’re dealing with all the things and yet still manage to smile for zoom class. The teachers have it so rough too. I am thankful for them all and have one month left to try to give hope. I also only have one month left with my high school students…all the bittersweet craziness has to fit into this month. We’re learning about ethics and morality so we have great discussions.

As far as my own 2 little bugs…we have now finished our study of China and our study of Japan. We tried eating with chopsticks, we folded origami and we read about Gladys Aylward. We also joined the seniors on their class trip (my husband is their sponsor and so we both went as chaperones). We enjoyed a huge mansion they rented complete with heated pool and jacuzzi, sand volleyball court, basketball court, ping pong table, ski ball, foosball, pool, and 2 other game tables that I don’t know what they are. We also explored the San Diego Zoo, Six Flags and went rock climbing. I got a refresher course in how to belay and belayed my kids so they could climb wherever they wanted.

Easter was a thing that happened. We had an egg hunt at church, we decorated eggs and found them and we had a seder which we really enjoyed. The kids also took part by singing for church one Sabbath and another Sabbath, Ari read the scripture.

Ari finished her baptismal studies and is getting baptized in June! Yay!!! I’m so proud of her. This next week we start studying Russia and…because of the war, we’re going to combine it with a study of Ukraine.

Also, please pray for our local school. We have teachers retiring and others moving, so we have several positions that need filling…so if you know someone that would like to be a teacher or principal in northern California, please contact me!

    1. Thankfully no. The elementary school had 2 openings for next year and so far have filled 1. The academy has 2 teacher openings and needs a new principal and hasn’t been able to fill any of the openings yet…so I pray for the school every morning because that’s a lot to fill.
