I don’t know about you all, but when my kids end up with a lot of time on their hands…I end up with numerous requests for screen time. So this summer, we made a routine. Before screen time we need to have breakfast, do morning lists (get dressed, brush teeth, etc), have morning worship, an hour of outside time and help with an extra chore. Then they can have 1 hour of screen time of whatever pre-approved shows and games they wish. If they want bonus screen time they need to play together nicely for at least half an hour, play with toys or games or read for another half an hour, and do a little bit of schoolwork. After that they can have bonus screen time. Bonus screen time options are an exercise game, bells lesson, Spanish lesson or art lesson. This has helped us a ton to minimize the “when can we have screen time?” requests.
How do you manage your summer screen time?
This is a Great plan! We do something fairly similar with our summer school plan. We had an extra movie night last night, but that was the only screen time for the day. 😉

Sounds good. I’d love to do movie nights but with our house stuff we tend to spend most of the day working on the house and kids are lucky to get the screen time they earned while we make supper. We are getting movie days on our road trip though 🙂 we’ve watched Boxcar Children and Brandi’s live action Cinderella.
