Frog week! We have tadpoles and we have chrysalis’s. Two of the chrysalis’s hatched today. Cas knew they were getting close and he spent an hour this morning staring at them. He ate his breakfast, brushed his hair and his teeth and got changed watching the chrysalis…walked away for 5 minutes and…one hatched. He was rather disappointed, he really wants to see one hatch. We have 3 left so maybe he’ll see one tomorrow if they don’t hatch before he wakes up. The tadpoles have grown but don’t have any legs yet. With frogs he learned about their life cycle, read several books like Frog and Toad and the Frog in the Bog and Over in the Meadow and learned how to draw a frog. We played leap frog with our co-op friends and we also pulled out one of his Koala crates on reptiles so he could learn about the long tong the chameleon uses to catch bugs like a frog does. He also set up his train set one day and played with it. We also started using the microscopes my dad is letting us borrow. We grabbed all kinds of seeds and flowers from our yard and looked at them under the microscope. Lots of fun 🙂 And we learned the difference between prokaryote and eukaryote cells and the classification system of life that most scientists use. The kids learned to play mancala and Cas made an abstract art sculpture. Ari joined in on the high school career fair and enjoyed asking people what they enjoyed about their careers. She finished her spelling book for the year and also made biscuits start to finish by herself (including putting them in and out of the oven which she was terrified of). And, Ari got Pathfinder of the year from her Pathfinder club.

Next is X for FoX and then V for Vegetables. Any suggestions? End of the year is coming together nicely and we’re enjoying it all!
Awesome! Congrats to Ari on Pathfinder of the year!
I’d read “Stone Soup” to go with vegetables. I love that story.
