Year in Review 2021-2022

At the end of the year, I like to give an evaluation on how our curriculum worked out for us. As a reminder, Ari was in third grade and Cas was in preschool. First of all, we loved our cores. Exploring Countries and Cultures was a lot of fun. We enjoyed learning about our world... Continue Reading →

School year is over!

We made it! Our year came chugging into the station at full steam but we made it! We ended the year with Australia and then Antarctica. We watched videos of zoos in Australia and of a kid who traveled to Antarctica. We read about koalas, kangaroos and penguins. We learned about the Great Barrier Reef... Continue Reading →

Wait…it’s May?

April sped by and I didn't manage to squeeze in a blog post. My Ukraine students have been such troopers. They're dealing with all the things and yet still manage to smile for zoom class. The teachers have it so rough too. I am thankful for them all and have one month left to try... Continue Reading →

March Madness

Not meaning sports 🙂 Life gets flipped all kinds of directions. I've added a family to our coop, a 7th grader I'm tutoring on Friday's and have another student in my high school class. On top of that, I've started teaching two English classes to students in Ukraine on Zoom at 6AM (it's 4 PM... Continue Reading →

It’s March!

Life's been busy. It's been a month since my last post! We finished off Kenya and visited Saudi Arabia and are now halfway through India! Saudi Arabia and India have included more discussions about different customs, religions and treatment of women and girls. Ari is certain she wouldn't last a week in those cultures. There... Spring has sprung!

Technically it isn't time yet but...everything around here says it is spring. Our fruit trees are in full bloom as are the daffodils. The insects are back to trying to sneak in our screen doors and my nose has a hunch that the pollen is coming soon. We've almost finished our study of Africa. Tomorrow... Continue Reading →

On to Africa!

The last week and a half have been busy and fun. We made pretzels and blushing maid for our German feast and then we flew to Kenya to study Africa. We are learning about different people groups around Africa, about the grasslands habitat and animals that inhabit it, and about some famous missionaries to Africa... Continue Reading →

Omicron and Germany and Doors!

It's been a bit since I wrote last...we were just finishing France and about to have our French feast. It was delicious. A cheese souffle, croissant and chocolate mousse with a strawberry. Yumm! Now we've about finished Germany. We'll have our German feast tomorrow. We've learned about Martin Luther, George Muller and John Wesley. We... Continue Reading →

Learning about France

We're back in the swing of homeschool! We're having a blast learning about France since it's where Ari wants to go for her 10th birthday trip. I might also be staying up too late learning about France 😛 I'll get that figured out. We've also started working on learning some French with Duolingo and Language... Continue Reading →
