Time for Sunshine!

While praying for rain, we enjoyed another beautiful week. We spent lots of time outside and we learned about early American history studying George Washington and the Corps of Discovery. For science we did two crystal growing demonstrations that were a hit.

This week we took our obstacle course game to the complex playground. You have a wand and 6 colored discs. The wand flashes a color and you run and plant it in that color and then it flashes the next color.
Ari has fun seeing if she can beat her previous times.
Here the kids are building a canoe with the fort building kit to then act out our history stories for the week in.
Ari explaining the art of paddling to Cas.
On this day we went to the irrigation ditch near us with friends and played for 3 hours and ate a picnic. Cas would find large piles of rocks and settle himself down to throw them into the water until all the rocks were gone.
Ari went swimming with a friend and explored pretending to be native Americans (we had just finished our reading of Swift Arrow).
Mixing in some epsom salt for a crystal growing experiment.
Art this week was drawing an animal from a picture. Cas asked me to draw him a snake and he colored it in with chalk pastels.
Ari is working on a pastel picture of a tiger swimming. Her tiger also got to wear a lily crown.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this peek into our life this week! Ari is reading well enough now that I often find her surrounded by a pile of picture books. It’s a fun new development. Things are still slow on the house rebuild front. We have found someone to go look at our last 4 trees that need to come down and give us a bid. Next week the Sound of Music practices amp up so Ari will be at school with daddy a lot…maybe that means I can finally give Cas a haircut…stay tuned.
